The Stream EM is a vehicle towed multi channel Ground Penetrating Radar solution dedicated to utility mapping.

The system has been designed to enable the user to cover large survey areas, this is achievable because the system is operating with 40 separate channels, enabling the best quality results possible. The solution includes double polarized (VV and HH) antennas, this enables the Stream-EM to travel in a single direction but collect the data for both the longitudinal and transversal pipes detection. The system can obtain data up to a maximum speed of15 Km/h.

It has long been a dream of utility surveyors to map the underground in large amounts of kilometres with minimal traffic management per day, this dream is now achievable. The high number of antennas increases the quality of the data achievable boosting the reliability of pipe detection.

Stream EM is easily dismountable, enabling it to be transported in a van. It can be reconfigured for mapping sidewalks and difficult areas and can also be easily adapted, by using suitable kits, for other applications such as archaeology, environmental, road/runways.

Because the Stream-EM system collects its position by GPS or Total Station, the system is extremely well suited for data collection in large open spaces such as airports and main motorway infrastructure.

This product utilises the GRED HD Basic, GRED HD 3D & GRED HD 3D CAD software.


  • Massive array of 40 antennas in two polarizations, this results in accurate 3D modelling of the subsurface and ease of detecting buried targets and anomalies. The use of both polarizations provides optimal detection of main and junction pipes at the same time.
  • Speed: Stream EM can be towed by a vehicle up to 15 km/h (12mph) and can be run continuously without blocking traffic.
  • Stream EM is interfaced with GPS or a total station in order to accurately geo-locate the surveyed area and to individually distinguish all pipes, cables and anomalies detected to an accuracy of as little as 2cm.
  • Professional Subsurface survey results, pipes, cables and buried objects can be automatically transferred to CAD and GIS formats allowing a complete subsurface GIS based digital map to be produced in just a short period of time.
